ESP Mosaico descubierto en la “Villa Possidica”, localizada en el término municipal de Dueñas, Palencia, Castilla y León, España. Presidía la habitación principal del conjunto termal de esta villa bajoimperial (s. IV), de ahí su temática marina. El espacio central del mosaico lo protagoniza la cabeza del dios Océano, con antenas de crustácao y pinzas de cangrejo en el pelo, flanqueado por dos nereidas montando animales híbridos. Alrededor se disponen distintos animales que conforman la fauna marina.
ENG Mosaic discovered in the ‘Villa Possidica’, located in the municipality of Dueñas, Palencia, Castile and León, Spain. It presided over the main room of the thermal complex of this Late Imperial villa (4th century), hence its marine theme. The central space of the mosaic is dominated by the head of the god Oceanus, with crustacean antennae and crab claws in his hair, flanked by two nereids riding hybrid animals. Around them are various animals that make up the marine fauna.
